Why isn't my Search Performance connection working?
The most common Search Performance connection and sync issues — and what to do about each one.
TL;DR
Most Search Performance issues fall into a few buckets: no data yet after connecting, an expired or revoked Google connection, a sync still running, Google Search Console data that looks stale, or no matching properties and domains during connect. Each one has a clear check and fix below. If none of them match what you're seeing, contact support with your domain and the timestamps from the freshness indicators.
I'm connected, but I don't see any data yet
After you activate domains, Prerender starts an initial sync from Google Search Console. How long it takes depends on the size of your site:
- Small to mid-sized sites: minutes to a few hours.
- Large sites (hundreds of thousands of URLs and up): up to a few business days.
While the sync runs, the Search Performance page shows a syncing state. Check the freshness indicators at the top of the page — if the "Prerender data" or "GSC data" timestamp is recent, the sync is working, and the report will appear shortly.
✅ Your sync is working when the freshness indicators show recent timestamps. Once it completes, the KPI cards and the rest of the report appear automatically.
If the sync has been running much longer than expected for your site's size, contact support.
My GSC data seems out of date
Google Search Console data is not real-time. Google's Search Analytics data may be delayed by at least 48 hours, sometimes longer. Prerender can't speed this up — the timing reflects when Google Search Console makes the data available.
Check the "GSC data" freshness indicator at the top of the page. It shows the latest available Google Search Console date. If that date is more than 3–4 days behind, Google Search Console itself may be delayed, which resolves on Google's side.
ℹ️ Prerender data (what was served to Googlebot) is separate and updates independently. Its timestamp is shown next to the GSC one, so you can tell the two data sources apart.
My connection expired or was revoked
If your Google authorization is no longer valid — the token expired, someone removed access in Google, or a permission changed — you'll see a notice on both the Integrations page and the Search Performance page prompting you to reconnect.
To reconnect, select Reconnect Google account on either notice and go through the Google sign-in flow again. Reconnect with the same Google account to keep syncing to your existing data.
ℹ️ While the connection is broken, syncing pauses but your previously synced data stays in the report. Once you reconnect, syncing resumes and picks up where it left off.
One domain says "Reconnect needed" but the others are fine (Enterprise Plus)
On Enterprise Plus with multiple connected domains, each domain has its own sync state. One domain can have an authorization problem while the others work normally.
The domain selector at the top of the Search Performance page flags any domain with a problem, so you know which one to look at. Select the flagged domain to see its specific error and the Reconnect option for that domain.
During connect, Google says I have no properties
This means the Google account you signed in with has no Search Console properties, or has properties Prerender can't see with the permissions granted. What to check:
- Right account? If you have several Google accounts, make sure you're signing in with the one that owns your Google Search Console properties.
- Enough access? The account needs owner or full-user access to your properties. Reduced-permission access may not return properties through the API.
- Property exists? If neither applies, you may need to add the account to your property in Google Search Console.
To try again, select Reconnect with a different Google account on the connect screen, or close the flow and start it again from Search Performance.
None of my Prerender domains match any GSC property
Search Performance only connects domains that exist in both Prerender and Google Search Console. If none of your Prerender domains match a property in the Google account you connected, you'll see a message explaining this. What to check:
- Exact match?
www.example.comin Prerender may not match a property registered asexample.com(without thewww) in Google Search Console. - Right account? Confirm the Google account you connected owns the matching property. Try a different account if you have several.
- Property exists at all? Verify directly in Google Search Console that you have a property for the site.
You can reconnect with a different Google account from the connect screen.
Why can't I select a custom date range?
Search Performance uses a fixed reporting window of up to 30 days, and the window isn't selectable. It grows day by day after connection: the first sync retrieves up to 28 days of history, then one day is added per successful daily sync until it reaches 30 days, after which it becomes a rolling 30-day period. Custom date ranges and previous-period comparisons aren't part of the current release.
Why is one column showing dashes instead of numbers?
A dash (—) means the data source has no value for that URL. It's not zero. For example, a URL showing — for impressions has no data in the Google Search Console records Prerender has synced. That's different from 0 impressions, which means Google recorded the URL and confirmed zero impressions. See Understanding the Pages tab in Search Performance for a full explanation of zero versus dash.
If I disconnect, do I lose my data?
Disconnecting stops future syncs from Google Search Console. What happens to your existing data depends on the current release's retention policy.
Search Performance currently shows a rolling 30-day window of Google Search Console data. Longer historical retention may be added in future releases.
⚠️ Reconnecting the same domain later resumes syncing. But if you connect a different Google account or domain property after disconnecting, Search Performance treats it as a fresh setup. If you have specific retention requirements, contact support before disconnecting.
I downgraded my plan. What happens to my Search Performance data?
Search Performance is available on Pro and Enterprise Plus only.
- Enterprise Plus → Pro: you keep access, but the domain limit drops from up to five to one. Only one of your connected domains stays visible in the report.
- Pro → Growth or Starter: you lose access. The feature no longer appears in the left navigation, and the Integrations page shows a locked Search Performance card with upgrade messaging. Data retention follows the current Search Performance policy — see "If I disconnect, do I lose my data?" above.
Still not sure what's happening?
If none of the above matches what you're seeing, contact support with:
- The domain you're looking at.
- The timestamps shown in the freshness indicators at the top of the page.
- A screenshot of what you're seeing, if possible.
Try it out
Ready to check on your Search Performance connection? Log in to your Prerender dashboard and open Search Performance to see your current data. If you haven't connected Google Search Console yet, head to the Integrations page to get started.
