What to expect in the first 30 days after integrating Prerender.io?

You've integrated Prerender.io. Here's how AI crawlers and search engines start finding your content, and what success looks like along the way.

TL;DR

In the first 30 days after integrating Prerender.io, AI crawlers and search engines gradually discover, render, and index your pages. You will see cached pages appear in your Prerender.io dashboard within minutes, AI crawlers start hitting your site within days, and measurable AI citation and search ranking changes emerge over weeks. Most of the work happens automatically. Your job is to monitor the dashboard, submit your sitemap to accelerate discovery, and clean up any URLs or query parameters that should not be rendered.

A note before you read on

The timelines in this article reflect what typically happens, not guaranteed outcomes. Prerender.io makes your pages fully renderable so AI crawlers and search engines can read them. When those crawlers decide to visit, index, and surface your pages is up to them, not Prerender.io. Some customers see indexing within 1–2 weeks. Others wait longer depending on Google's crawl schedule and other factors specific to their site. Use this article as a directional guide, not a contract.

Why setting expectations matters

Prerender.io works as soon as it is integrated, but the visible impact takes time. AI crawlers and search engines run on their own schedules. They decide when to visit, what to index, and when to update their results.

Setting realistic expectations from day one helps you focus on the right signals at the right moment, instead of waiting for impact you cannot yet measure.

This is especially important if you are handing a Prerender.io setup to a client, or if you are the team member responsible for explaining results to leadership.

What happens, and when

Day What's happening What you can see
Day 0 Integration is live. AI crawlers and search engines are not yet aware that your pages render differently. Verify your integration is working in the dashboard. Cached pages appear within a few minutes of the first crawler request. Most pages will be cache misses (no cached version exists yet, so Prerender.io renders the page fresh) on day 0. This is normal.
Days 1–3 Crawlers begin hitting your site naturally as part of their normal recrawl cycle. Each visit triggers a render and cache. Cached page count climbs in your Prerender.io dashboard. AI bots like GPTBot and ClaudeBot may already appear in your crawler logs. Cache misses remain common during this window as Prerender.io renders pages for the first time.
Days 3–7 Submit your sitemap to Prerender.io to accelerate discovery. This pre-caches pages before crawlers arrive, eliminating cache misses. Sitemap status visible in the dashboard. Most of your URLs are now cached and ready to serve.
Days 7–14 Search engines may begin reindexing your rendered pages. AI crawlers refresh their content stores. Google Search Console may show indexing changes. Some pages may temporarily fluctuate in rankings as the new HTML is processed. Indexing timing is decided by each platform, not by Prerender.io. See the caveat below.
Days 14–21 AI platforms start surfacing your content in answers. Search rankings stabilise on the rendered HTML version. Begin spot-checking AI platforms (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity) for citations of your pages. Search rankings should be steady or improving.
Days 21–30 The full impact begins to show. Your content is consistently indexed, citable, and rankable. Compare baseline metrics from before integration: organic traffic, AI referrals, indexed page count.

⚠️ Indexing timing is decided by AI platforms and search engines, not by Prerender.io. Prerender.io makes your pages fully renderable and ready to be indexed. When Google, AI platforms, and other search engines decide to crawl and index those rendered pages is up to them, and the timeline can vary. The 7–14 day window reflects what typically happens when your Prerender.io account is optimized, your content is high quality, and your site has no underlying issues. If indexing takes longer than expected, that is not a sign Prerender.io is not working. It usually means Google's crawl schedule, your site's overall health, or your content quality is influencing the timing.

What success looks like in the first 30 days

You will not see all of these on day one, and that is expected. The goal is steady progress in the right direction, not instant transformation.

  • Cached page count grows steadily: visible in your Prerender.io dashboard within hours of integration, growing significantly as you submit your sitemap and crawler activity ramps up.
  • AI crawlers appear in your dashboard: GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, and others should show up in your crawler activity within the first week.
  • Indexing remains stable or improves: Google Search Console should show pages indexed normally, with no sudden drops.
  • Cache hit rate climbs: by week 3, most crawler requests should be cache hits (a cached version of the page exists and is served immediately), meaning AI crawlers and search engines get instant rendered HTML. A healthy cache hit rate depends on your industry and content type.
  • No impact on website visitors: your website visitors continue to experience your site exactly as they did before integration.

✅ Your integration is healthy when cached pages keep growing, AI crawlers appear in your dashboard activity, your cache hit rate trends upward, and Google Search Console shows stable or improving indexing within the first 14 days.

What might go wrong, and what to check

Most issues in the first 30 days come from one of three causes:

  • Your sitemap has not been submitted. Without it, Prerender.io waits for crawlers to discover pages naturally, which slows the cache-warming process. Submit your sitemap in the dashboard to accelerate discovery.
  • Some user agents are not being intercepted. If you are not seeing certain AI crawlers in your Prerender.io dashboard, check that their user agents are included in your integration. See how to add additional bots for the full list.
  • Pages are returning errors instead of rendered HTML. Most often caused by IP whitelisting or CDN configuration. See how to verify your integration for troubleshooting steps.

ℹ️ AI crawler indexing timing varies by platform. Each AI platform refreshes its content on its own schedule, which is not publicly specified. If you do not see AI citations immediately, that is normal.

What to do during the first 30 days

You do not need to do much. Prerender.io does the work. But there are four things worth doing:

  • Submit your sitemap in your Prerender.io dashboard within the first week to accelerate cache warming. See how to use Prerender.io's sitemap crawler for instructions.
  • Add ignored URLs and query parameters in the dashboard to filter out pages that should not be rendered (search results, faceted filters, tracking parameters, admin paths). Crawler activity ramps up significantly in the first 30 days, so cleaning this up early reduces unnecessary renders and keeps your usage efficient.
  • Monitor your Prerender.io dashboard weekly: look for steady cache growth, AI crawler activity, and a healthy cache hit rate.
  • Spot-check AI platforms after week 2: ask ChatGPT, Claude, or Perplexity about your product or topic and see whether your content is being cited.
