Tax on your Prerender.io invoices
Why sales tax, VAT, or GST may appear on your invoice, and how your tax ID or exemption affects it.
TL;DR
Prerender.io adds tax to invoices for customers in the EU, the UK, Australia, and the US states where Prerender.io is registered for tax, unless a valid tax ID or an exemption applies. US sales tax applies to invoices from October 19, 2026. Tax appears as a separate line based on your billing address, and your plan price doesn't change.
Why tax appears on your Prerender.io invoice
Prerender.io is registered for tax in the following places, so customers there see tax on their invoices:
- The European Union (VAT)
- The United Kingdom (VAT)
- Australia (GST)
- A number of US states (sales tax, from October 19, 2026)
If your billing address is in one of these places, tax is added to your invoice total unless a valid tax ID or an exemption applies (see below). If it isn't, no tax is added.
How tax on your invoice is calculated
- Tax is a separate line. It is added to your invoice total as a separate line. Your plan price itself doesn't change.
- Your billing address decides the tax. The amount depends on the billing address saved under
Billing → Billing Infoin your Prerender.io dashboard.

How your tax ID affects tax on your invoice
A valid business tax ID can change whether tax is charged:
- EU and UK customers. If you have a valid VAT number on your account, you are usually not charged VAT. This is known as the reverse charge.
- Australian customers. If you have a valid ABN registered for GST on your account, you are not charged GST.
Adding a tax ID is optional. If your account has no tax ID, tax is charged as if you were a consumer. An invalid or incorrect tax ID is treated the same as no tax ID.

How to claim a tax exemption
If your organization is tax-exempt, for example a non-profit or a reseller, you need to send a valid exemption certificate. Your Prerender.io dashboard only accepts a tax number, not a certificate, so send it by email:
- Self-serve plans (Starter, Growth, Pro). Email your certificate to support@prerender.io.
- Enterprise plans. Send your certificate to your account manager.
Our team then uploads your certificate to your account.
