How do I enable two-factor authentication (2FA) on my Prerender.io account?
Protect your dashboard, API token, and site configurations with a verified second layer of account security.
TL;DR
Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a time-based code from an authenticator app as a second login step alongside your password. Enable it from your Prerender.io account settings in a few straightforward steps using any TOTP-compatible app, such as Google Authenticator or FreeOTP.
Why enable 2FA on your Prerender.io account
Your Prerender.io account controls access to your API token, domain settings, and cache configuration. A compromised password alone is enough for an attacker to disrupt your site's AI & Search visibility. Two-factor authentication ensures that only someone with both your password and your physical device can log in, even if your password is reused or exposed in a breach.
ℹ️ 2FA is set per user account, not per team. Each team member must enable it individually in their own Prerender.io account settings.
Step 1: Log into your Prerender.io account.
Go to Prerender.io and sign in with your existing credentials.
Step 2: Open your Prerender.io account settings.
Click the Profile icon in the top-right corner of your Prerender.io dashboard, then select My Account from the dropdown.

Step 3: Navigate to the password section.
Scroll to the bottom of the My Account page and click Change Password.

Step 4: Click "Set up authenticator application."
When you click the "Change Password", you'll be routed to a different page. Click Set up authenticator application at the bottom to start the 2FA setup flow.

ℹ️ Any TOTP-compatible app works. Google Authenticator (Android and iOS) and FreeOTP are both supported. If you do not have an authenticator app installed, install one before continuing.
Step 5: Re-authenticate with your current password.
Enter your current password when prompted. This step confirms your identity before your security settings are changed.

Step 6: Scan the QR code and enter the verification code.
Open your authenticator app, scan the QR code displayed on screen, then type the 6-digit code the app generates into the verification field and submit.
Step 7: Verify that two-factor authentication is active.
Prerender.io confirms 2FA is linked when the setup screen shows a success state. From your next login onward, you will be prompted for both your password and a 6-digit code from your authenticator app.
✅ 2FA is active when your next login to Prerender.io shows a verification code prompt after you enter your password.
⚠️ If Prerender.io provides recovery codes during setup, save them in a secure location before closing the setup screen. If you ever lose access to your authenticator app, contact support@prerender.io to regain access. Do not delete your authenticator app without first disabling 2FA in your Prerender.io account settings.
